| Is physical or occupational therapy for you? Physical
or occupational therapy is recommended for individuals
who want to restore their maximum level of function—up
to 100%—prior to when their injury occurred. Physical
and Occupational Therapists return patients to their
prior level of function by evaluating the patient's
need, developing a specialized plan of care, and then
treating the patient accordingly. |

Many times the plan of care includes therapeutic
exercises and the use of modalities. Modalities can
consist of ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and
cold lasers. Many modalities are only available to
physical and occupational therapy patients, not the
general public. Your doctor is a great resource to
making an informed decision if physical or
occupational therapy is right for you.
How do you get started? All you need is a prescription
for therapy from your doctor. Then you call or visit
our most convenient location to set up your first
appointment. Optimum also accepts therapy
prescriptions by fax directly from your doctor. On
average doctors prescribe therapy services for four
weeks with a frequency of two to three times per week.
At our Brenham location we offer late appointments
(after 5:00PM) three times a week to accommodate your
work schedule.
Will my health insurance pay for physical or
occupational therapy? Therapy services are covered by
almost all insurance carriers. Your deductible and
co-pay are based solely on your insurance plan.
Optimum Rehabilitation's patient representatives will
verify and inform you of your benefits prior to your
first therapy session and file the claims on your
behalf with your carrier. We accept most major
insurance including Medicare, Blue Cross and Scott &
White. |
